Ten-year old J.T. McKenzie knows exactly what he wants to be when he
grows up--a firefighter, just like his father and grandfather. He's
off to a good start. J.T. lives right next door to the Copper Creek
volunteer fire station. And he and his friends, Stinky, T-bone and
Maverick--who call themselves the Fire Eaters--all share the same
dream. As the
Fire Eaters work to finish their float in time for the Fourth of
July parade, J.T. wonders if he has what it really takes to be a
firefighter. Does he have the courage to face up to the town
bullies? Is he brave enough to take the shortcut into the woods past
Old Man Dixon's house?
When the Fire Eaters
come face-to-face with a real live emergency, J.T. learns there is
more to being a firefighter than courage and bravery. And he
realizes that maybe he does have what it takes. |
